Why we started
Why Field & Tide
Field & Tide really began after I became a mum.
Suddenly, our days were shaped by swimming lessons, weekend sport, time outdoors and all the little adventures in between. I started noticing the small things that could make those days easier — especially when it came to keeping the kids warm, dry and comfortable.
The idea for our first changing robe came when I was looking for one as a gift for my niece and nephew. Their weeks are just as busy, moving between swimming and soccer, and I wanted something that could move with them, thrown on after the pool, worn over their sports gear on cold or rainy mornings, and packed for long days at the beach in summer.
But I couldn't find what I had pictured.
The robes I found were often bulky, the designs weren't quite right, and finding the sizes I needed was surprisingly difficult. And as a mum, I kept thinking about my own children too. If I was going to buy something like this for them, what would I actually want it to be like?
I wanted something practical enough for real family life, but still beautiful. Something warm without feeling cumbersome. Easy to throw in the car, useful across different seasons and activities, and designed in colours and a fit I would genuinely choose for my own kids.
The more I looked, the more I found myself thinking about how I would do it differently.
Eventually, I stopped looking for it and decided to create it.
That became Field & Tide.
What began with the idea for one changing robe became the starting point for Field & Tide, a brand inspired by the way my own family lives. My hope is to create thoughtful pieces for all those everyday family moments.
As a mum, I want every Field & Tide piece to be something I would genuinely use for my own children. That's the standard I keep coming back to as I consider the materials, fit, function and smallest details.
I hope they become the pieces your family reaches for without thinking — the ones that live by the door, get thrown into the car and come along for whatever the day brings.
